Legal Aid
All of our solicitors are registered with the Scottish Legal Aid Board to provide criminal legal assistance although in every case the first meeting is free. If you think you might be eligible for Legal Aid, you should bring with you to the initial meeting evidence of your income and capital positions; for example:-
- Recent wage slips
- Benefit award letter
- Bank/Post Office Account statement
Criminal Legal Aid is primarily means tested. Generally speaking, to be financially eligible for Legal Aid, you require to have disposable income below around £200-£240 per week and disposable capital below £1,700 although these figures are reviewed annually. At More and Company, we only charge privately in cases where the Legal Aid route is not available or has been exhausted. Our fees are competitive, set on a case by case basis and will be agreed with you before any chargeable work is done on your behalf.
